Called by critics “New Orleans’ own voice of an angel”, the native is known for her emotion-packed performances. Classically trained, Genco studied voice at Texas Christian University and is a graduate of Louisiana State University. She served as Cantor for the St. Louis Cathedral and Director of Music for Immaculate Conception Church. She maintains a private voice studio with former students currently studying at Yale, OCU, UC, and Manhattan School of Music. Genco resides in New Orleans with her husband and two beautiful children.
Performance highlights include: Dallas Opera, Baton Rouge Opera, Robert Shaw Chorale, Tulane Lyric Theatre, and numerous other regional theatres. She’s been featured on “Backstage” for EWTN, National Council of Bishops 2006 Easter Broadcast, 2006 and 2008 Unity Awards, WLAE TV weekly Mass broadcast (5 years) , WWL TV, WLAE TV, WDSU, and several national and local radio broadcasts. She has performed at numerous national conferences including the National Council of Bishops, National Health Care Association, and the National St. Vincent de Paul Conference. Genco has performed as part of the renowned TRINITY ARTIST Series in New Orleans during Christmas 2011 and February 2012 with composer Fr. Michael Burke, O.P. She has also been frequently featured as part of the French Quarter Festival Christmas Concerts. Genco has been featured on two national compilation projects by Heartbeat Records and three by Spiritwing Records.
Genco is no stranger to the recording studio. In 2003 she released her debut album titled INSPIRED which sold more than 15,000 copies. She followed up with her sophomore release in 2004, a meditative project, IN THE STILLNESS. Both projects received critical acclaim, but it was her 2006 release AFTER THE RAIN that truly caught the attention of industry professionals. This project which was begun before Katrina was finished in the early months after the storm. AFTER THE RAIN is an anthem of hope for locals and musicians determined to stay in this great city. In 2007, committed to supporting the local arts, she remained in NOLA to complete her Christmas project despite urging by national management to travel to Nashville to record. Genco and her New Orleans musician friends released IN HIS PRESENCE…THE GIFT OF CHRISTMAS. The project earned Genco the 2008 National UCMVA award for Seasonal Project of the Year. Genco released her 5th projectINSPIRED CLASSICS, in 2008, showcasing her classical training and is a local favorite. In December 2011 Genco debuted the first two tracks from her 6th album LOVED; “He’ll Carry You” and “Be Still”. Both tunes are currently available on iTunes or her webssite. The full project will be released on February 26, 2012 in New Orleans and features Dr. Robin Holtz Williams (piano), John Rankin (guitar) Anne Chabreck (flute), Joseph Meyer (violin), Karen Ray (cello), Lissa Stolz (oboe), and Vance Woolf (trumpet), and other members of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra.
